Multiple news sources are reporting authorities have confirmed that a body found at Port Edgar, near Edinburgh, Scotland is that of Scott Hutchison. Hutchison was a founding member, lead singer and guitarist of long-running Scottish indie act Frightened Rabbit. He was 36 years old.
Hutchison had been publicly battling depression for several years, and family and friends feared the worst after a series of cryptic tweets Tuesday evening, followed by his disappearance. The cause of death has not yet been released.
His bandmates have released the following statement:
There are no words to describe the overwhelming sadness and pain that comes with the death of our beloved Scott, but to know he is no longer suffering brings us some comfort.
Reading messages of support and hope from those he has helped through his art has helped immensely and we encourage you all to continue doing this.
He will be missed by all of us and his absence will always be felt but he leaves a legacy of hope, kindness and colour that will forever be remembered and shared.
Hutchison was a prolific member of the Uk indie scene, performing in several acts, as well as releasing a solo album. His most recent album with Frightened Rabbit was 2016's Painting of a Panic Attack.
